So we had a few problems with the adsl line and exchange in our area, was fixed pretty quickly and I have been told everything should be running fine now as repairs where done to both the exchange and the line itself,

however it seems like any

international or media heavy site takes ages to load...

Are there any settings I should have changed or something? Download speeds are between 5-15kbps on direct downloads , mweb insists

everthing is A OKAY on thier side.. how do I go about solving this?

Thanks...

Good Day,

You can verify if its your exchange by providing us trace routes, I would suggest bbc.co.uk and mweb.co.za.

Also your speed test results will be deteriorated, I will provide you the Telkom guest account details as well for a comparative to be done.

Your trace route results seem fine and is not showing any congestion at your exchange at the moment.

How is your general experience now?

I have checked your account and you are being throttled, the throttling was enabled on the 16th September.

YOU SHOULD ALWAYS INFORM THE USER VIA EMAIL AS SOON AS HIS ACCOUNT IS SET TO BEING THROTTLED!!!! MWEB is getting worse and worse these days. WTF IS GOING ON IN THE CEO'S OFFICE!!!!

@ ly4k
Do yourself a big favour by cancelling your MWEB account and make a switch to either Afrihost or Openweb. They are really good.

Well.... heh. Your PR skills are lacking (in the sense that you don't try sugarcoat the fact that you're shafting your client), but at least that means the truth comes out quicker.
This throttling is ridiculous.

Yho, that's really ridiculous! I don't know what has gotten to MWEB, they so stingy with bandwidth!!

Why doesn't MWEB do shaping during peak times instead of throttling? Or they do both?

It would appear that they do both. And it also appears that if you are running torrents everything is slowed to useless.
