So, when we got married my wife moved down to Cape Town and we are about to get her a new car, but she would like to keep her gp personalised number plate. Considering we are Fica'ed and Rica'ed in the Cape, does anyone know if this is possible?

Why do u want to do that ? its expensive to register in GP, the registration cost would be cheaper in CT !

Actually, the license fees are less in Jhb, plus she prefers her personalised number.

Think you simply need to have proof of address in JHB - then you can register it there?

It is possible if she has an address in JHB, she won't be able to have a vehicle registered in any other province though, i.e. all vehicles in her name must be registered in Gauteng.

My car is registered in PTA and the Midrand licensing branch couldn't even renew my disc.

You need to renew your license in the city/town where the vehicle is registered. When we moved I had someone renew mine in my old town every year, no problems.

What is her personalised number plate? Why not just register it in CPT, unless it's already taken?
