If you have ADSL with MWEB they are probably overcharging you R 40 a month. When you changed from 'Dial up' (analogue) to ADSL Mweb continued your 'Dial up' service in addition even though you never actually used that service ever again. Of course Mweb knows that, but they neglect to tell you, so that you unwittingly continue to pay the extra R 40. At first it was mentioned as a separate item on your bill, but later they included that charge in the package. When I confronted them with the issue they were prepared to cancel the 'Dial up service' from the first of the following month, but refused to refund me the money I have been overpaying for many years. Their reasoning is: "

It was your responsibility to have cancelled the service. As this was visible in your billing and on your MWEB invoices." (What??????)

So they assume, that their customers are knowledgeable and alert enough to advise Mweb they no longer need to be charged for 'Dial up'. They reserve the right to continue charging those customers, who are too stupid to know, that with an ADSL service one does not need a 'Dial up' service.

Their logic is as baffling as their business ethics are.

Please advise all your friends about this. The victims will save R 40 from now on and perhaps a united protest will persuade Mweb to do the honourable and refund all of us.

One more reason to ditch dishonest service providers. Seems its a habit with mweb to come up with ridiculous things

erm...
This very much sounds like a post belonging to a category related to today's date.

For what it's worth mnet's dial up does cost R40 a month, dunno if they automatically keep you on it though.

They do. I once handled the internet at a previous workplace. Picked up in 2009 boss was still paying for dial-up. You have to cancel it. I know about this. If you're a new customer who only got ADSL from the beginning then this doesn't normally happen.

Its always been disabled by default since I got my account

"This account does not currently have dial-up access. To enable dial-up access please click the enable button below." from the user cp
