Is this true?

1) No we don't... not by a long shot
2) Not even CLOSE to the highest electricity price in the world
3) Nope, again not even close
4) Nope, not even in the top 5.
5) Nope, not cheap, but not most expensive
6) This is somewhat difficult to quantify since countries have different definitions of rape, but its not hard to believe atm.
7) Potentially accurate, but hard to confirm.
8) Possibly, but then I would call that a good sign. we're protesting against things we don't agree with, we're starting to get a clue about democracy
9) Very possibly, and yes this can be laid squarely at governments feet if its true.
10) Possibly as well, and not something to be proud of at all I agree
11) What is GPD? If they mean GDP, then we're 29th in the world
12) Nope, but we're up there yes.
13) Very much doubt that.... would take too long to confirm though
14) Quite possibly accurate, but it depends on which project they're talking about
15) Maybe accurate.
16) Not entirely sure how someone came to that conclusion
17) Again, how did someone get to that conclusion. What data did they use?
18) Voted by whom?
19) Not even close.
20) Based on what data?

As much as I dislike the ANC, this whole thing stinks, as individuals are also responsible. Checked Facebook now and this is being snowballed.

Bullschit. The ANC give people every opportunity to criticise them. Like the recent audit showing that government wasted around R30bn last year.

Making schit up to criticise them is plain stupidity, and it's not necessary...

More so the country that are really progressing in the world are full of individuals that are positive about their country and patriotic. Slumped shoulders and wrist slitting individuals rarely offer anything of a push in a forward motion.

It's petty, self harming and masochistic to wish the country you live in to fail just so you can have a little "I told you so" fit.

They country is run by the people of SA... so more of an attack on us then the ANC.

This is exactly my problem, people and their attitudes. I will win this war with the truth, than deception or propaganda, there is no need to go this low.

Yeah right, last I checked you were part of a minority & the majority unfortunately wants the ANC in charge. By the time they wise up, if ever, it'll be too late for any rescue. Sorry not cynical, or maybe I am, but its not easy to say stay positive when there's nothing postive to be positive about.

Face it there is no solution for this country. You're welcome to try & convince me otherwise but I say we will go the way of Zim & other African countries. There's no stopping it anymore.

That's smearing it on more than a little thick don't you think ? Our economy is under performing not crumbling to pieces. Perhaps people lives could be improving at a faster rate, but there's nothing to show people's lives have gotten worse.

And other African countries haven't gone any specific way. They're always been at a very low standard. All the evidence shows in fact most, like us, are improving their living conditions.

We need to really stop overstating the negative, just like this bogus "factoid" does and slow our panic down to a dull roar. Much more can be achieved with dealing with reality with cool calm heads.

What also worries me is the last year in my mind has seen more trouble than any before and on many fronts. I don't know if that is just a perception or if the media is just playing it out more strongly. Are we reaching some sort of critical mass?

the words "in my mind" should be a big hint..

Pretty sure the hijacking one isn't true, Brazil has a huge number of these crimes (the motives are different though, its mostly to kidnap and ransom). UK also had a huge increase, they even brought in some S.A police to advise the task force dedicated to it.

1) No we don't... not by a long shot. I might actually agree...http://www.whichcountry.co/top-10-countries-with-highest-crime-rate-in-the-world/ Consider the population count of each nation
2) Not even CLOSE to the highest electricity price in the world http://cleantechnica.com/2013/09/30/average-electricity-prices-around-world/ Could be argued but consider once again population count as well as average income
3) Nope, again not even close I would rank places like Angola way higher probably, need to question the logic behind this claim. Will go up with etolls though :p
4) Nope, not even in the top 5. 27th or thereabouts. Still pretty bad.
5) Nope, not cheap, but not most expensive
6) This is somewhat difficult to quantify since countries have different definitions of rape, but its not hard to believe atm.
7) Potentially accurate, but hard to confirm. Considering population count we probably have a good chance.
8) Possibly, but then I would call that a good sign. we're protesting against things we don't agree with, we're starting to get a clue about democracy Except when it comes to voting for free TShirts :p
9) Very possibly, and yes this can be laid squarely at governments feet if its true. Only positive I guess is the recent drive for ARV's in SA, or as I hear it on the radio.
10) Possibly as well, and not something to be proud of at all I agree Most definitely, it is a shame.
11) What is GPD? If they mean GDP, then we're 29th in the world
12) Nope, but we're up there yes.
13) Very much doubt that.... would take too long to confirm though Over R11 to the dollar now, and when I last analyzed against a handful of other currencies our trend was still negative to those. So to me this is believable.
14) Quite possibly accurate, but it depends on which project they're talking about
15) Maybe accurate.
16) Not entirely sure how someone came to that conclusion Probably all the media hype going on now especially in the townships. I could actually believe this. 702 radio talked about it too but I missed the consensus on it.
17) Again, how did someone get to that conclusion. What data did they use? Well it only stands to reason by correlation the highest rape = the highest elderly rape. A moot point in my mind. But the highest rape claim needs to be substantiated. This is probably just sensationalism.
18) Voted by whom? I can accept we are among the lowest, but not the lowest.
19) Not even close. R320mil house + whatever the road cost, if measured against certain criteria might be somewhere up there. But I also won't accept we are the most expensive.
20) Based on what data? Apparently its Nigeria due to their younger marriage average age for woman. I assume we would be pretty high because of the poverty line, but nowhere near the highest.
