While it's far from being the best card out there, it provides excellent performance for the price. (About R1200 new). I think it also received the award for "Best Budget Card for Jan 2008". I will try to find the link to the article.
What resolutions and which games and what settings for AA.![]()
No offence to guys who have an 8600 but you would be a fool to buy one. You would be better of buying a second high end 7 series or the equivalent ati card or getting the ati 3850 for about R500 more or waiting for the geforce 9600.
The 8600 is not for gaming it's a good card for a cheap multimedia setup.
While I agree that it isn't the perfect gaming card, if it can play Crysis (currently the most advanced game) at ANY settings, then it's good enough for quite a lot of people. Not everyone needs full AA etc to enjoy the game. I just finished Half Life 2 on pretty much the lowest settings, using a 9250 and thoroughly enjoyed it. I've since upgraded to an 850XT and am now semi replaying it at full settings and it's great to have all the extra stuff, but it doesn't mean that I'm gonna upgrade again to make my PC capable of full settings in Crysis. I'm happy to play it at lower settings if need be!
ok guys... while on that subject, what would u recommend me getting this dude???
the HD series??? or wait for new Nvidia???
confused here... 8600gt or 9600gt???
