Is TV repairable?

My TV was displaying perfectly, when all of a sudden it stated "snowing" with long vertical streaks of colour.
I cannot see a picture
Not sure is TV is plasma or LED. It is a LG 42 inch.

Is it worth repairing it?
Can they be repaired?

If it needs to be replaced, I want to replace it with a smart TV so I can watch Netflix.
Any suggestions?
