The notifications bar is gone, which I relied on heavily for new messages. At any given point I might have thousands of unread emails, a few whatsapp messages and SMSs. This skin gives me a count of these, but not notifications for new messages...

The notifications bar is gone, which I relied on heavily for new messages. At any given point I might have thousands of unread emails, a few whatsapp messages and SMSs. This skin gives me a count of these, but not notifications for new messages...

If you are using Apex launcher / Nova launcher, why not set a gesture to bring down the notification bar (example, I configure it so that swiping downwards on the screen brings up the notification bar).
Yep gestures are awesome, I use them for apps I don't want others to use, then I hide the app in the drawer. For example the Facebook app I use is only accessible with a two fingered swipe (Here's hoping no one looks at the app history page).Didn't realise I could do that.
