Hi,

I've had the IS uncapped solution for a while now and sometimes it works really well, other times not so well. I've been led to believe by IS support and a few posts on this site that the reason the international is iffy is because the bandwidth is provided by satellite, hence high latency and weather issues.

Recently it was brought to my attention that IS now offer a fibre service where the international traffic is routed via fibre instead. Has anyone tried this? Is it any better?

Thanks

Well, the IS uncapped 1024K goes for something like R5000+ a month, bit much if you ask me.

Something like this should not cost more than R1000 per month.

The cheaper uncapped option do use satellite - hence the problems when there is clouds or other weather issues.

The fibre works out a bit more expensive, but is not affected by weather.

And I agree on the pricing comment.

thanks... have u guys used the fibre option or not. im not too worried about the cost right now. want somethng that works, willing to pay

If got the uncapped Fibre option at the office and I must say that it works better than the satellite version. Mine is purely used for SMTP and access to locally hosted WWW servers.
