It's upgrade time after spending 2 years with a N97... which I paid in for. Not the worst phone ever, but not exactly fun to use either.

Not wanting to have a sucky phone for the next 2 years I decided that a HTC Sensation, Samsung Galaxy S2 or Motorola Atrix is probably my best bet.

The best offer I have found for the Sensation and the Galaxy is with Virgin on their Classic contract 300... No Pay in. But it won't help if with no pay in I also get no signal. 2 years ago I ported from Vodacom to MTN because of poor call quality. I have been very happy with my MTN Anytime 350, but no so happy about the idea of paying in R1500 for a phone.

So... the actual question is, is Virgin mobile OK?

I'd also be interested to know as when my current Cell-C Autopage contract expires i'm looking at the R300 HTC Sensation deal at Virgin. Seems like good value for money.

Since Cellc started all their upgrades a while back Virgin has improved a lot. I'd say you have nothing to worry about.

Thats good to hear.
Does Virgin have access to all the Cell C 3G towers?

I spoke to the salesman last night... and he actually had no clue... His answer was: Yes, we do supply the 3G stick :)

That been said, I seem to remember their side saying that their 3G is in the 1800 range, but I could be wrong

Sounds a bit fishy, can't see them using 1800 when Cell C which they piggy back on uses mostly 900 and never 1800....
They are or wil prob have 3G available only as far as Cell C has coverage.

Another question does Virgin piggy back on Vodacom when no Cell C tower is available (like Cell-C subscribers do)?

Hi ZAFluffyBunny, what did you decide to go with? I'm looking at the Samsung Galaxy SII VM deal too, but also worried re network?
