Is vodafone live phones Network locked?

Vodafone live phones

I recently obtained a Vodafone live Motorolla for my father-in-law, tested it with a Cell C and MTN sim, the phone works like a dream, however, I cannot say if all Vodafonel Live handsets are network locked or not, I would imagine most of the 3G/Wap features would be locked to the specific network.

I have a Sharp GX25 Vodafone live handset. It is not network locked.
Network locking sux big time

I bitched at Vodacom because they didn't tell me I was getting a network locked phone. They didn't even know my phone was network locked and said it wasn't their policy to network lock phones but the V800's they got from Vodfone UK and not from the SE factory and therefore Vodafone had obviously locked the phone.

I wonder if you could take your V800 and use it overseas on Vodafone. So buy a Vodafone SimCard in the UK or Germany and stick it in your Vodacom V800 with Vodafone live!
It would be funny if the network lock didn't allow that....!!!

Unfortunately I already had my phone unlocked because I travel to UK really often and I already have a virgin mobile sim that I use.

Hi Gambit

What did it cost to have the phone unlocked?

Hi Gambit

I unlocked the phone myself using Total Multi Server software and a Sony Ericsson T28 Data Cable. A TMS unlock credit can be purchased for as little as $6 from some sites. I did ask Vodacare how much it would cost to unlock the phone and they wanted R200. The reason I decided to do it myself was A) it was a lot cheaper and B) they had to send my phone from cpt to jhb to have it done.

I thought it was "illegal" to unlock a network locked phone, but if vodacom will do it I dont see any problem now

Any Vodacom locked phone can be unlocked for free of charge at any VODACARE outlet. But you must prove to them its a contract phone
