I want to get vista through the newsgroups, i know its illegal, but I want to buy vista when it comes out next year so I first want to test run the thing and see what needs to be upgraded and what will work fine, dont want to spend a fortune on vista only to immediately have to spend a fortune on hardware upgrades too. Does microsoft have something like demo copies or something like that?

AFAIK they do - should be sent out with MSDN subs - cancelled my subs after NET2005 trashed my PC, so would not know...

Anyway, bet you a rice paddy to your corn field that the newsgroups have a copy.
:D

EDIT: i win!
Microsoft Windows Vista 32bit Build 5342 (DVD) 8 days alt.b.warez

You have to be uncapped to use these search engines right? :(

IS soft cap will be ok - but S L O W
also, I have never managed to successfully download the nzb files while capped.

I should actually speak to a buddy of mine, he is a c++ programmer and is a msdn subscriber to get a test version out of him.

i had a copy of something - may have been vista. All legal etc, from M$.
After 1/2 an hour roaming their attrocious web site, I still could not get a key to install the damn thing. Used it for a coaster.

Thats why I like supersearch, it goes through your nntp address and port (think so), and as it only returns headers (and sometimes the nzb is part of the header), you just create a nzb file on your own machine with the headers or just retrieve the nzb file through newsleecher. But also have to warn that sometimes their supersearch server just goes on the fritz, my subscriptions has already been extended by another week for all the downtime, which is cool from their side

Grabit is a good free client.

As for getting the Nzb's, I use www.nzbzone.com, which is free but sometimes not avaliable during high server load.

If I know what I'm looking for I just use binsearch.info and search for it.

And that pretty much meets all my news server needs, granted that I don't look for obscure **** to download.
