ISA sound on Ubuntu?

I've just put Ubuntu on someones computer.

How do I get the sound to work? It's onboard and I think it's connected to the ISA bus. I remember how to do it in Mandrake, but can't find anything in Ubuntu.

lspci | grep -i multi ;
google the output, ensure your volume is set correctly to 75%
inurl:ubuntu doesnt hurt either.
