ISgaming.co.za Steam content server down?

I'm trying to download Crysis Warhead on steam and it keeps connecting to some horribly slow overseas server. I've done all the firewall stuff, disabled nod32, etc. so I'm pretty sure it's not a problem on my machine as I used to get 300kb/s and now it's sitting at 50kb/s to an overseas IP (checked with netstat).

I wish Steam would give me an option to only connect to the local server without fiddling with IPSec.

I've no idea. If I did I could use IPSec to block all the others. Steam doesn't even tell you which server it's connecting to though.

Thought of that, but if I delete the clientregistry.blob it updates from the foreign server.

Oh well, I've given up on Steam. I'm going to download a pirate version off rapidshare at 400kb/s and copy it into my steam folder and hope that works else I'll be waiting days for it to dl at 30kb/s. Pretty awesome that pirating a game is quicker than buying it legally....and the companies wonder why people do it.

I often get the data from someone/somewhere else and duplicate the folder structure under Steam. Run a 'Verify' and it will fetch anything that is missing or different.

Yeah, my cunning plan didn't work, it only adds about 10% to the Steam progress bar, so I'm playing the pirate version while I wait for the copy I bought to download. Nice one Steam!
