The affects of the 'War on Terror' could possibly be dire to children in America.

President Bush threatened to veto legislation renewing and expanding the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP). The legislation would extend health coverage to as many as 10 million children — four million of whom are currently uninsured. Bush has claimed the SCHIP bill contains “excessive spending,” but in fact, just 41 days of the war in Iraq would fully pay for the coverage:

For what really?

For clarification: This was meant as sarcasm.. The kids in america are denied medical aid by this veto of uncle bush. Thus it is my opinion that he will rather blow it on the war.

Whats even worse is the deficit which they sliding further and further into:

A positive spin to this action might be him finally being kicked out of office. I would be PISSED off if I was an American citizen right now.

Yep, the went in, 'freed' Iraq. I guess that justifies the 80,000 odd civilians killed since the invasion began too?

Yip. By your rational it wasn't justified to free S.Korea or any Western European country

EDIT: Also thousands were dying anyway( many children). Something you'd prefer

I don't recall Iraq trying to overthrow neighbouring countries? Atleast not in close to two decades, why didn't they free them back then?

And why do you think Iraq didn't in the last 16 years? You don't know so I'll tell you. Sanctions crippled their ability to wage war and hence crippled the whole country resulting in 100 000s dying.

IMO they should have after the First Gulf war.

Alan I used to think that your blind, sheep-like defence of Bush used to be funny, but now it's downright sick! Are you honestly approving of this just because Bush is your superhero? How does it smell that far up his rectum?

We're not talking about 100 000's Iraqi's here, we're talking about 100 000's of his OWN citizens, whom he should see to first! Don't turn this into another one of those "is the war on Iraq justified" threads. Discuss the issue at hand - he's spiting kids from his own country.

I doubt they could've. Given how much trouble a country that's had 16 years of sanctions is giving them.

Yeah they could have. Unfortunately they didn't have the will or support to do it then :(

LOL and I think you're sick for wanting Iraqi kids to die indefinitely by the 100 000s but now suddenly you care for the plight of Americans kids cause it suits your Bush bashing

In any case I never said I agreed with his decision:rolleyes:

It is not like those poor uninsured kids are going to vote for the GOP anyway ... they are probably Dems on welfare and illegal immigrants.

Only a few more months before they get Hillary and Bill which will fix things :).

....Iraqi kids to die indefinitely by the 100 000s .....
You do realise that thats nonesense don't you? Kindof like the Weapons of Mass Destruction and Iraq being a terrorist haven.

Reminds me of the days of the '91 Gulf War when we had that girl tearfully testifying to congress how the Iraqi soldiers came into the hospitals and threw babies out of the incubators so they could take them. Only after the war where this was revealed to be rubbish and the poor girls shown to be a member of the Kuwaiti royal family. (but at least that war had a rational basis and was properly executed).

I have friends who have used that program for their kids when they were born. No they are not 'on' welfare, they were students who needed some help to be able to provide for their kids and stay in school so they could be productive citizens a few years down the line.

The state of healthcare in the US is really bad. Glad my kid was born in SA where private hospitals are so affordable!
