iSONIC Chassis

Odd, but don't isonic do OEM manufacture for some of the big brand name PSUs?

Who is the iSonic distributor? Some of those cases look perfectly good for general home PC use and I need to get some ads out before Santa time.
 
oh, wait.. it's sonicinformed. I'm sure I signed up there a couple of years back, but have never needed a product from them yet.

Back to the isonic; have to admit, from the pricing I'm seeing on prophecy, etc, and the look at these cases, I think I've finally found a source (other than TVR and Rectron) for cheap chassis for budget builds. Definitely going to follow up with sonicinformed tomorrow.

Yeah, their PSUs have had a lot of problems. There have been numerous threads about them. Yeah, they brand OEM things I think, let's just say some of the things they brand are very Chinese.

I also hazard a guess that the PSU that comes with the case has no more than a 3 month warranty (as is the case with most below-cheap case/PSU combos). Would show how much they trust their stuff. :rolleyes:

Some of the cheap PSUs will work well for years though, it's just advisable to rather go with an entry-level branded PSU i.e Cooler Master Extrepe Power 350watt @ R350 which at least comes with a two year warranty.,

I'm sure the case is fine. :D

I also concur about that.

Still, for a cheap build for a non-essential non-gaming PC, that case PSU combo is pretty cheap :)
 
Both of those points are valid. However, trying to convince someone on a tight budget to purchase a chassis/psu combo of some R700 vs R300 can be quite difficult and a losing/frustrating battle. And quite often it's the luck of the draw on these things. I used to have some arb PSU which ran for years and then I chucked in a somewhat pricey Antec. The Antec gave up the ghost within a few months, so it was back to the generic. Sometimes a generic will surprise you, and a branded item can shock you (literally). But there's still alot to be said for spending money on a proper PSU even if just for the warranty.

A few years back the only PSUs we could get were the R80 items. No-one complained.

Rectron offer some gigabyte case/psu combos. They're been good, but ofcourse once again there have been some of them that died. But that was years ago when I was still getting stuff through corporate account. Haven't ordered a newer combo.

But, hey, at those prices even buying the chassis, ditching the PSU and putting in a better one could work out well.
