ISP "catching" all port 25 traffic

I don't like it one bit. I have my own mail servers, yet the ISP (WISP) we use insists on re-routing all port 25 traffic (sending mails) through their own server.

This opens up other people flagging us as spammers which we're not (RDNS/SPF etc)

The only other thing I can do is to make the mail server listen on an alternative port. The problem is, Web Africa says its impossible on a shared solution

I mean I've RAN TWO shared servers (which I've setup myself with HELM etc) and BOTH I could have an alternative port running listening for email traffic.

It just gave all the domains hosted on there the ability to send email through their as well (authenticated by username/password FYI)

What alternatives are there? Seeing though as my request is SO impossible?

How much i like webafrica, this where they fall short in the hosting department. I have several sites hosted with them, my problem was i wanted to host more than 1 site on same package and they told me also its impossible, while i know it is possible cause i have done it with my own servers.

This is becoming standard procedure around the world. There was a huge gasp at a recent international internet conference when someone mentioned that its almost never done in SA.

What alternatives are there? Seeing though as my request is SO impossible?

WebAfrica should be running a MSA on the standard port of 587 (another international trend gaining momentum). If they refuse to do that then you can contact me - either I'll help you with your hosting needs or apply pressure to my contacts at WA

Definitely not impossible.

Either:

#1 Smartermail: (our standard mail server) can be configured to do it, will have to check with our engineers on that.

#2 Porttunnel: We can redirect a port to port 25.

I'll forward this along though and see what we can come up with (just give a day or so to investigate).

Its not impossible, you are correct. However we don't offer it, instead we have Reseller Easy packages:

We have been adding 587 as a alternate port on a per request per domain basis. I will do a mass update tonight on all our servers across all domains.
Will start this evening, Shouldn't take more than a hour or 2. Will update here once complete.
Should help with those pesky port blocks allot of the ISP's are doing now days.

Early last night all of our local mail servers had the alternate port 587 enabled and, as of this morning, all of our international mail servers have had the same treatment.
