Hi Guys...

I have an odd problem... i have like 3 different isp's(i'm trying them all out to see whose best), they are AH uncapped, OW uncapped and recently i signed up(no3) for the FNB connect uncapped.

Now i usually put my isp details in the router, set my dns(using unotelly), and everything works fine.

what i have noticed recently with the fnb account, i'll put the details in the router and all is good, next day get back from work and when i log into the router, AH details are there  and nobody at home knows how to change it besides me...

any ideas how this is possible? i'm quiet enjoying the speeds and quality of steam on the fnb account but to change it everyday is schlep... the DNS settings dont change at all, its just the isp details that changes automatically :wtf:

Have you tried switching it off and on again :D

After you put the details into the router and it is confirmed working, switch it off and on again and see if it "remembers" the settings.

Maybe post what router you have as somebody might have experience with the same one. I had an old Netgear that needed to have the settings flashed to it followed by a reboot otherwise it would only keep them until the power was cycled.

thanks for the replies...

i have a telkom billion 400g router... i haven't put in the details then tried an immediate reboot, but i'll try that tonight and let you know...

Can you set your router to Bridge Mode ?

If so, you can then not bother going back to the router to change from one ISP to another, but simply have each one on a dial-up via the PC - and choose whichever one you want to log into, any time.

If using Windows 7 (maybe similar in 8 ?), 'Open Network and Sharing Centre', then 'Setup a New Connection', and go from there to setup each ISP, but only after router's been changed to Bridge.

On these Billion routers after you have added the username and password you need to click on apply and then go to "save config' and click on apply again. This will then save these changes to the memory of the device and will not reset to the previously saved settings once it reboots or restarts...

Hey Slamz,

Sorry - I havn't read the comments yet, so I might be repeating :/

If you are using a billion router, make sure you click "Apply" and then "Save Config" at the bottom of the page :) Else the configuration isnt stored in the permanent storage, but rather in a temporary one (Don't ask me why :D )

EDIT: I see dtj already responded :)

I checked it up now...working as it should and didnt change... Thank you all fot the help and advise

No probs!

Just another thing - if the details reset, it means that your router was automatically restarting in the night? Is it on any timer or anything - as rebooting the router without any warning could possibly cause some software issues (Hardly probable, but anything is possible :D)

Nope no timer... Well not that i know of... The info is still there so im guessing no auto reboot...

Maybe a poltegiest :p

Had the same router with the same problem.

As had been said use the save config option. At random times the router would use old ISP accounts I put in previously. Not much you can do other than a factory reset now and again.
