Hey guys,

I have two accounts, one for international and one local only. During December I had some sweet pings whilst playing online, got between 35-45ms.

However, during the last 9-10 days my ping shot upwards to 55-70ms. Upon closer inspection I found the following when doing tests for both accounts:

SAIX:

Now, obviously there is some majorly wrong with the SAIX account. Is it something on my ISP's side or is there something wrong with Telkom somewhere ???

The SAIX one should be a good few miliseconds lower shouldnt it ???

My friend only has the SAIX account with the same ISP as me (Cybersmart) and he gets the exact same result, when doing a tracert to games.saix.net

What can be done to resolve the issue ?

Any advice will be appreciated.

:)

PS: I edited out the IP address in the tracert section of the SAIX ping test AND I do use Route Sentry
:D

I've just checked now and am getting similar times on my Openweb IS account.

DAMN irritating as I keep getting booted from the game.

My troubles seem to have started roughly last Wednesday. Allot of the guys online are also complaining of bad ping times in BF2.

I play BF2142 mainly, and yesterday a friend and I were playing online, and we got a few ping spikes, I got once disconnected myself from the game, but other than that it was all cool...

But the ping times are really strange though, maybe they are performing maintenance on their equipment perhaps ?? Who knows....

The strangest thing for me though is the SAIX pings that are nearly identical to the IS pings, and they MUST be lower, so somewhere, something is horribly wrong....

PS: Is it also a local only account that you have, and do u use it in conjunction with a saix account with route sentry ???

Yup.

I have an Axxess 3Gig SAIX account for international traffic and a Openweb 30Gig IS for local traffic.

I'm also using routeSentry for routing.

The worst part is I was SO ticked off this weekend with bad ping times that I called the idiots today to upgrade my line to a 4Meg. I got home and saw everything was cool so naturally tried to play a game...and got booted twice in 5 mins so I just called it a day.

Damm....that sux man. Hmmmm, yesterday my friend and I also played BF2, strangely we didnt get booted, we played nearly for an hour and a half, without any problems.

Maybe I should give it a try and see what happens. I will report back to you as soon as I have done some testing...

BF 2 seems to be working good here with me. Ping is normal and more than playable (but still high) about 50-60ms.
