The last few weeks I've noticed some sites either don't load or the connection is refused but when I use a proxy it works perfectly and if I trace route and just type the IP address it also works fine.

Now obviously this isn't a connection/server issue and I suspect Mweb is either blocking the site or shaping the traffic to these particular addresses so much that they fail load. Has anyone else experienced this?

When queried all the Mweb people give me is the usual your account has been reset please try again (read as either I don't know what the hell is going on or spin circles around customer until he gives up).

I also want to know. There is a very small probability that Mweb will deliberately block an IP/domain, technical issues may be a cause.

And I doubt it's technical issues as like I said it works perfectly through a proxy or even just using modify headers on Firefox

If you are running Peerblock, close it (or disable http), and try again

I'm not running that, doing trace routes shows slow as hell connection (like 350ms) through SA leg and then fine once it gets international but only to those sites.

I am on Mweb and accessed the above two sharing websites with no issues. It is probably something not resolving on the other side.

I can access the home pages no problem, it's the download pages that give trouble

Switch DNS servers and test? Use 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 (Google DNS).

The fact that the proxy works + IP works hints at a DNS resolution failure?

Tried that still didn't work. If it was a DNS resolution failure I wouldn't be able to access the entire server (I can access the home pages) not just the download pages?
