Ok sorry guys I know there are millions of threads about ISP's on your wonderful forum but I mostly brows on my phone and you have no idea how frustrating it is searching trough all the treads.

Basically I am looking for the best bang for my buck, I have been reading about some awesome ISP's with good prices like R60 for 3gb or i think I read about a ISP that is R30 for 4gb. The problem with browsing on my phone and then eventually getting to a pc to check is i can never find those "magical" ISP's:sick:.

I a pretty broke so don’t want to pay to much but then again i would like to watch some youtube, and play the odd online game:D.

I really need help. All I know i want a connection and some band with at a nice price:)

Id think my max, max budget is around R300 a month but would ideally like to spend around R200 - R250 if that is possible ? and it would be awesome if it could be prepaid.

thanks in advance

Do you have a Telkom line?

Do you have ADSL on it?

R300 only for bandwidth or ADSL Line + bandwidth or Analogue Line + ADSL Line + bandwidth?

Hey thank you for the reply, I do not have a line yet, so yes Line rental plus bandwidth

My landlord has a ADSL line if that makes a difference ??

Well Do Broadband is @ R199 plus ADSL Line rental.
Then analogue line rental is about R145 monthly.

Your gonna spend at least R350. Bear in mind this is for 1GB.

There can be cheaper ISP's. Like Web Africa. It's R169 per month for a 384kbps, 1GB account.

So if you choose Web Africa then you will pay roughly R314 per month. For 1GB @ 384kbps....
iBurst is R257 per month for 2GB if using the USB modem. And R297 per month for 2GB if you use the Desktop modem.
iBurst should be faster than 384kbps but depends on coverage....

So for R250 - R300 per month, you are gonna struggle in SA.

Can't find the Cybersmart special though.

shees things are looking bad..... Thanks keep the suggestions coming guys, so far psivius's ISP looks the best, but I am sure there is something i don’t know if my phone is whacked but i have seen some good deals.

Line rental R145 for 384.

Thats a given.

GConnect's 30 day passes are the cheapest I know, but less so on the smaller packages. Either way their R150 option will give you 5 gigs, so R30 per gig. Better if you could go for the R200 option, which offers 9 gigs, so R22 per gig. Right now I am on their R389 bundle, which is for 27 gigs, coming to R14.40 per gig.

The R150 though is the only one that will keep you under R300 per month though.

R145 line rental
R150 for 5 gig package
----
R295 Total.

Edit: Also have a look at Afrihost.

Not prepaid, but good pricing.

Analogue Line: R131
Cybersmart Oneprice 1GB + 384 ADSL Line: R169
Total PM: R300

Better value would be to take the 3GB all in one bundle, work out to total of R390

If you aim to download a lot with minimal browsing, Cybersmart is a good option, as they offer "free bandwidth" weekends for R100 more pm..
