Hello all.

Please help me I am with a absolutely kak isp where i have logged a call for poor steam speed and disconnect the whole time and packet loss.

Response we don't guarantee international speed (really steam has 2 servers in SA Cape Town and Johannesburg)

Packet loss tested now to there site getting between 10 and 30% team leaders don't call back and I am gatvol.

They keep blaming Frogfoot but my issues is that they are my isp and must fight the fight not me and not take 13 days and just ignore me.

Please let me know. Keep one my my issues is packet loss so please let !e know if you had any packet loss issues.

I have notified them of cancellation and will see there response.

Thanks in advance

ISPs have very limited, if any, influence over the maintenance of fibre network infrastructure. If Frogfoot in your area is stuffed, check if any other networks are available.

For all you know, you're leaving a perfectly acceptable ISP and are going through all this effort just to have another one give you an identical experience. Which ISP are you currently with?

What area and ISP? Could be ISP or FNO related.

Hello.

I am n Pretoria, I understand that I could be the FNO my issues is the time it is taking my isp to get feedback and getting the FNO to resolve.

It's not even an issue in peak any more it's the entire. I tested again this morning and ranging from 3-30%

This is extremely frustrating and SLA claims 5 days well that is long gone.

I'm betting this on cool ideas, that's what they're rep kept trying to say.

I ended up moving to atomic access, who actually opened a ticket with FF to get it sorted.

We were dealing with your loss for ages with FF, it was more than likely just timing that it was resolved as you moved. We are constantly dealing with loss and the FNOs.

Totally believe you, don't worry, just remember that international is not guaranteed.

Changing ISPs won't help. The packetloss is on the cable provider side there is physically nothing the ISP can do. They can log and log and log but if the cable provider does not play ball then nothing will change.

I see it in the Afrihost thread too. SADV and Frogfoot complaints on the daily everyone blaming Afrihost for a poor network when actually you need to blame the cable provider and maybe the ISP for not having proper procedures for dealing with it.

I ask a director of a big ISP how do you get the cable providers to sort out loss on their network. He just said EXTREMELY difficult because they never admit to it and blame the ISP.

A lot of the time the FNO is well aware of the congestion but will deny it. They get a temporary link to the location to start selling services whilst they await other builds to link up or other routes to go live.
We also see a lot of this if the area is not near the 3 major metros. So they utilise longhauls which get congested, whilst they wait for other routes to happen.

Frogfoot PE is a great example:

Thanks all, well seems it was the ISP as they changed me to static IP and resolved the issue (dont know how or why) but the time it took was very long to resolve moving over to another ISP,

Who is the ISP

It's Frogfoot, not the ISP - just like the other people were saying, the new ISP got lucky. I've been in the same boat for a very long time, can check my threads on Frogfoot George.

Would of agreed with you but then why did it work when they changed IP to static?

I really dont have any experience in this field

Well that is a funny and long story we did test on an ISP that was looking awesome that fell thru due to personla reasons and now decided on VOX

Vox for the following reasons so far

12 Ping plotter o packet loss (same area and FNO)
24 hour support
Direct link to UK

Just some of my reasons do might be silly

Good luck with Vox. They have a good network but not the most optimal paths. They have equipment in major IX like LINX and NYIX but that does not really help latency wise with some very bad routes. I don't know why but yeah not the best IMO.

Thanks this is very help full, we still running the test and will be doing the pig test running out of good ideas for ISP do lol.

Cost is not really the issue just solid support is what i require and no packet loss

All my Frogfoot problems has been while using Vox. Didn't move ISP as that wouldn't really help, had horrible/useless support where they keep calling you with "updates" - but don't really have anything to say - just so they can say "we updated the client, and the call has been closed" - while internet is still unusably poor... Rage inducing.
