Had a Telkom tech at my house saying its my modem once - convinced him otherwise by showing him my collection of 10 DSL modems that have an issue on the line as well - never seen someone change their tune that fast.

Done the same thing, except I explained in detail how ADSL works to him and where the fault most likely was. He had an interesting blank look about him as he tried to comprehend all of it. The next techie that came was a lot more senior and fixed the hassles.
