Well the people across the road from us had an armed robbery several days ago, and apparently they are back. Today when I reverse my car out of the garage I noticed a metallic blue old shape Jetta with slightly tinted windows parked outside the house. I have just been told that the car involved in the attack across the road was the same vechile.

The registration number is believed to be MCS759GP.

Now that I know it looks like they are going to target someone in our street again and since we dont exactly have the biggest walls in the neighbourhood... I am a little worried.

I would like to install some type of camera to keep an eye on whats happening out on the street, and I have been hearing about this iSpot security camera a lot on 702. Has anyone here had experience with it? Do they have a website? What are the charges? What are the really affordable alternatives?

I would prefer to have some type of wireless setup that I can login to from a browser or something like that and that is discreet. But I know nothing about the industry, so all suggestions are welcome.

yeah, it looks like ispot makes a big part of their money from the portal you use to view the feed through your cell.

They will definitely target other houses in the area. They did in our street in November.

Last Friday they broke in one of the houses that were robbed previously and the alarm went off. Took ADT an hour to get there...

Anyway, best thing to do its not leave ouside leading doors open/unlocked. and to ensure sliding doors are secure, one house they got in because the people left the kitchen door open so the dog coudl cgo in and out. They also threw a brick through the window of the sliding door of the one house here and proceeded with thier armed robbery...

Hey,

I work with cameras and the major thing ppl forget is that they are used for surveillance only. Yeah, I know, DUH!! But the only way for you to monitor it is to actually sit and look at the stream, are you really going to be connected to the camera the whole day staring at it? A break-in takes a few minutes, thats how long it takes you to sit on the pot... If you really want to do something, about this, start some kind of neighborhood watch and take turns checking out you area, otherwise the best option is to get a cheap alarm, hook up a SMS transmitter to it and pop in a prepaid SIM with your number programmed. Once the alarm goes off you will know immediately that something is up and can phone the cops or a neighbor to check it out.

Most people spend money on cameras and at the end it helps them nothing.

Here is an address if you are interested in that SMS unit:

In your case you will be looking at the sms alert 1, it has one input and thats all you need for one alarm system.

Otherwise use your old 'faithful' alarm monitoring company in your area...

Well one thing is to warn the police about the suspected car and mayby as street collectivly go and ask what they are doing there. So they know they are being watched as well

But yes, the best option should be to inform the police in your area about it. Lets just hope they do something about it. I mean, nowadays we have to pay parking attendants to watch our cars at shopping malls while we still pay our taxes which in turn pays the police to do the same thing
