Hi all,

Been a long time user of Openweb/IS local-only bandwidth. Now switched over to a screamer uncapped account and its fine for the moment.

What I would love to see would be an uncapped local-only account up to a 4mb speed. I'm happy to have a different account for international I just want a uncapped local-only connection. Even if it is just an account straight to their news server I be happy :)

Anyone else would prefer the above.

No thanks. Don't lower your expectations, that's what they want.

Don't settle for less then 8Mb/s uncapped at R1000.00

It may take some time but it will be worth the wait.

Why settle for 8mb when in japan 160mbs is $60?

All true but for the time being. If I can get a +-264kb uncapped international account for R300 now why can't I get a 4mb uncapped local for the same price.

That's a good question. I just don't want the ISPs to ever think we're satisfied. I reckon if we didn't complain etc, the new guys like Afrihost and DigiChilli never would have entered the market.

Because Telkom owns the local loop..... and we all know how badly Telkom wants to make money out of everything they own.

I don't think it's about the money. I reckon they just love shafting the public.

Ai, its so sad that there aren't even servers here in SA (that I know of) where you can download at speeds faster than 20mbps :( And overseas 100mbps is quite popular/usual for dedicated servers.
I also find it odd that uncapped local isn't cheap and freely available - especially for businesses that want PPTP connections between offices in different provinces.

I'd love to here from an ISP rep on this topic. I find it bizarre that they can now get international bandwidth on Seacom cheaper than through there ipconnect with telkom. Also surely they could save a fortune by creating their own news servers? Hopefully Screamer or Digichilli are reading this. :)
