I'm sure they can but as many Muslims travellers will attest, Ben Gurion isn't exactly friendly towards them.

no worse than most airports. he could have just gone, he would of been fine, Israelis have no issue at all dealing with Muslims in business or anywhere else. heck they have set up factories all over the Arab world to bypass the arab boycotts of Israeli products or for tax and other benefits.

If you were in Nablus then you were not doing business with Israelis, so then yeh I concur, he would of had a harder time, going through checkpoints to Palestinian areas. If his business was in Israel proper, then he would of had no hassles.

Sad fact, but the palestinian areas are an enemy state. Israelis (actually Israeli Jews only) are barred from entering palestinian controlled areas as well, so if your name is Cohen, and you from Israel, you not going to Nablus.

did you BTW ever get a chance to stay at the King David? Mulling this, but at R3500 a night (the cheaper rooms) its a bit on the expensive side for my budget, but looks so worth at least a night or two.

But Soweto was part of South Africa, indeed a de facto suburb of JHB.

Ironically if you had said you were going to do business in Transkei, or Ciskei or any "Independant" homeland you would have been graciously assisted to reach your destination as the Apartheid government would have had a vested interest in perpetrating the myth of independance.

The comparision breaks down completely.
