In a speech Wednesday, Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak, who has publicly supported reopening negotiations with Syria, warned his countrymen that if the absence of talks continues "we could end up with all-out war."

Ya Israel being Israel as usual, shame the poor Israeli's people are being nasty again. Must have something to do with them being jewish, they must be antisemitic.

What about all those despots and sufferwells at that liberal news source CNN?

A bit late! Israel missed an opportunity during the Gaza war. Rather than resuming their pounding of Gaza when the ceasefire was broken, Israel should’ve rather targeted (assassinated) the Hamas leadership (truly surgical strikes). They were keeping their carcasses out of harms way in Syria (they won’t risk harm to their own carcasses, rather fight to the last drop of Palestinian blood that was not theirs). They would’ve got concerned if the flow of caviar and Champaign was interrupted. Syria is an Israeli problem that won’t go away and the Israeli’s will have to deal with them sooner or later. Why not sooner? The Israeli population was hyped up for war after Gaza. Morale was high and troops were deployed or on alert. This way the Hamas butchers got their come uppance and if Syria wanted to make an issue of it, Israel was as prepared as it would ever be. If Syria got snotty about assassinations on their ‘sovereign’ soil, so what. Put-up or shut-up. Win/win.

Naturally Ehud Barak was out there in the thick of fighting. No member of the Israeli government would ever be so cowardly as to be hiding amongst civilians.

There is no such thing as a surgical strike.

Israel would be quick to cry about how they're being oppressed if Palestinians carried out assassination bombings similar those typically carried out by Israel. They'd also whine and moan if Syria were to fly into their airspace and bomb some infrastructure Syria has decided the Israelis should not have because it is a threat to their national security.

Not too sure, just see it swung around in threads like these.

LOL yeah I thought so, it was my previous forum name and some still refer to it. :D

In case you're wondering why I changed my name it's because I needed something less common on the net.

hehe.. 'talking'. Yah.. sure, if there is one thing the arabs have learnt well is that 'talks' just aren't worth the oil and voyager miles.(and remember they get these for nothing already ;))

ps. for Israel talks = demanding what they want & threatening action, negotiation is puting their demands on the table with what they want to give even though they have no right to their demands. So yah.. after the last 20yrs in particular i'd love to see Arab leaders attending talks again :P I think there is better chances of cows flying.

Just saw this thread now. Don't know what to make of it... except that I hope Israel stays calm and stays out of it.
