Israeli poll - 'God help us'
09/09/2008 21:00 - (SA)

Jerusalem - Most Israeli Jews have a negative perception of the Middle East with many asking themselves, "What the hell are we doing here?" according to a survey released on Tuesday.

Asked to give the first words that came to mind when thinking about the Middle East, 61% of respondents were negative, 20% neutral and 19% positive, Tel Aviv University's Centre for Peace Research said.

The negative responses mainly related to war, terrorism and Islam, the centre's poll found.

"These came along with expressions of a general, colourful nature such as: 'a nutcase region', 'a *****ty place', 'a morass,' 'I can't take any more of it,' 'God help us,' and 'What the hell are we doing here?'" the centre said.

Aspiration to peace

Among the positive responses, an aspiration to peace was common.

The survey also found that 71% of Jewish Israelis do not believe that Israel will succeed in the coming decades to integrate politically with the rest of the Middle East.

The centre's survey shows that 63% clearly prefer integration with the West.

Among Israeli Arabs on the other hand, 34% responded with positive words and images when questioned about the Middle East, 32% had negative responses and 34% were neutral.

In the telephone interview of 599 people, carried out at the start of September, a majority of Israeli Arabs also favoured integration with the West rather than the Middle East.

The sampling error for the poll is 4.5%, the university said.

Exactly!!! They should all move out and setup shop in East Germany!!!

It is a win win for everyone:
  1. West Germany can finally get rid of the blood sucking east.
  2. That way the Arabs can go back to being pathetic and not have anyone to blame.
  3. East Germany will experience an economic renaissance not seen since post WWII.
  4. Also a lot of "Israelis" will be closer to their ancestral Turkic homelands in Russia. EasyJet here I come!

If you have a problem with the East German locals, not to worry, see Palestine 1948 for pointers. :D

There are more Jewish people living in the City of New York than live in Jerusalem... it is the largest population community of Jewish people anywhere in the world

The New York metropolitan area is home to the largest number of Jews outside Israel. There are more Jews within New York City limits than within Jerusalem city limits, making the New York City Jewish community the largest such community in the world. About 12% of New Yorkers claim to be Jewish or of Jewish descent.[10] New York is also home to nearly a quarter of the nation's South Asians,[11] and the largest African American community of any city in the country.

Sorry to burst your anti-Israeli bubble, but East Germany is no longer.

Sorry, I meant to say the area formerly known as east germany - I forgot that I still have to join the dots for some people. :o

BHAHAHAHAHAHA

Chew on that anti-West, anti-USA, anti-Israel, anti-Jew trolls

Careful Frankie, you're treading a fine line, better not fall off.

ROFL. That shut him up :D

Whatever you say princess. ;)

Sounds like typical SA comments as well: 'a nutcase region', 'a *****ty place', 'a morass,' 'I can't take any more of it,' 'God help us,' and 'What the hell are we doing here?'"

I'd still rather be in SA than Israel.
