Issue with choosing the right format for DVD player - PLS HELP

Hi

I'm using VLC player (latest version)
I want to convert an already compressed video movie to a format suitible for my DVD player at home - I want to play it safe and choose a format compatible with most if not all DVD Players. I've wasted to many empty DVD's already
Which one?
Mpeg-TS / Mpeg - PS / Mpeg - 1/ Ogg/Ogm / ASF/WMV / MP4 / MOV / WAV / RAW / FLV / MKV

What is your current format?

IF avi, then use Convert2DVD to convert to Mpeg2 format.
