Why would it read at such a low speed in DVD decrypter?
My notebook is faster.
Using a brand new LG dvd Writer.
Also having a lot of errors trying to read.

Thanks

Is DMA enabled? My LG drive I tried kept being set to slowest speed by Windows - had to re-enable DMA.

Is it one particular movie or is it slow with a range of movies? If it's one movie then it's probably not having luck cracking the decryption ........ you get a few that can't be cracked.

Did the writer come with a driver disc - if so, try that for W7. Also check in your BIOS that it's auto-detected properly. Is it ATA or SATA?

Is yours SATA 2?
How did you do it please?

Yup. It's SATA II
I'm typing this from memory..
When you're installing your Nvidia IDE drivers, there is an option to install some extra feature <The name slips my mind>, that shouldn't be installed. Also, there is no difference between Nvidia and Windows IDE drivers.

Nihilist helped me sort it out.

I know that I'm ranting on about IDE drivers on a SATA issue. But as strange as it sounds, sorting that out solved my SATA Writer's problem.

Edit: SW IDE drivers don't install
