Issues registering my microSIM

So yesterday I signed up for a S3 on a Talk 240 contract. My number was with MTN but was moved over to prepaid when my old contract finished. I arranged with the guys at the shop (Cellucity) to do the number transfer and simswap. This was after 16:30 so they said it would be done today, I've recieved SMSes saying it's done. I could still make calls on my old SIM but now the new MicroSIM in the S3 is not registering on the network. I phoned Vodacom who assured me that the MicroSIM is active on that number and that I should just turn off my old phone, take out the SIM and wait.

The S3 has yet to register on any network. If I goto Network Operator selection it gives me the big 4 as options, trying to click on any of these gives me an Unable to connect Mesage. If I try Select Automatically, same thing.

How long does the registration of a new SIM usually take? It's been about 2 hours since I phoned Vodacom.

Thank you. PM received. Port in was activated as per below:

2012-06-05 17:32:34 ********** MNP MSISDN Ported In Portin Activated. cronupd

I do however always recommend to clients when they port in to keep both sims off from about 18:00 the day the number is to be ported to the next morning to make sure that the port in process completes 100% on our system with no interference. Many say this is not required...but it is what I prefer.

I have requested your micro sim number to confirm it is what I have on the system just to rule that out.

Okay
I upgraded my old 275 top up contract to a 315
with a Samsung S3 and in order for the phone to work I had to do a sim transfer to a Micro Sim.
So I did on Friday. They said that it will take between 2-24 hours. I waited a day. Then the phone still said not registered, same as the person in the other post. Then we called Vodacom and they said that we had to switch of both phones and so we did for a whole day and night. And still nothing.
Tomorrow it is Monday and is still is not working, your help will be nice.
Thank You
Armand

Hello Armand. Please PM me your cell number and the new micro sim number. Our system does have general delay of 2 hours from when we process the sim swop on our system for your protection and to prevent fraudsters to get access to your OTP's.

Once you PM me your cell number and new sim number, I can check that the swop has been processed on our system or not.

Please note that I can only assist with VSP queries...Autopage and Nashua needs to be directed at their respective client service channels.

Hello Armand. Thank you for your PM. I have checked...and yes...the sim swop was processed on our system...but seems to have failed and the old sim still seems to be the one active on our system. Please contact the store where the swop was done so that they may either re-issue a new sim card to you or to escalate the issue with our trade partner support desk as soon as possible.

Please do not take this out on the consultant or the store as I can clearly see the notes on the system of when the swop was done on the 15th and all seems to be in order...but it could just be a system glitch that it was not finalised on the node 2 node. This has happened to me also...rare...but can happen. Should you not come right with the store..please let me know.

Hi Ockie,
Please help me. My dad finally decided to let go of his old E series Nokia and move to the S4. First they only told him after he agreed to the upgrade that he'll have to wait 3 weeks for stock. Then once the phone came, they firstly wouldnt register the micro sim because he couldn't tell them what services were all active on his statement (because they kept sending it by MMS which he couldnt read!) Then half an hour later they said never mind about the security questions, they can activate it, but he needs to pay the upgrade fee. Awesome. But before he could do that, they sent him to collections! what the hell? THEN after another 2 hrs on the phone AND him being shoved from one vodashop to another he's finally decided that after 17 years with Vodacom, they can get screwed. He's now porting to MTN. My question is, why is it so hard for him to get through to some sort of manager there? I think after all the crap of this last month, and after 17 years with them, he should be able to.
