Hi all, I'm trying to setup a Minecraft Server for me and my friends to play on and cannot get it to work with my router.
I have used all the online tools I can find but cannot seem to get it to work. Is there any way anyone can tell us what we're doing wrong, I will attach images of the setup and such, any and all help will be appreciated. The 10.0.0.4 was from my ipconfig IPv4 and then the ports are the standard Minecraft ports. I will provide any additional information if it is needed

Are all of you connected to the same router?

The issue we're having is that the ports are not open for some reason, going to canyouseeme to test and it keeps saying connection times out when testing the port
And we want to be able to play with my friend hosting, at his house while I'm at mine. We had it setup with my router and it worked but I dont have enough ram to host and play

ISP would need to open that port if thats the case. Why is mine craft till using 255xx.

Are you sure that your PC/host's machine still has the same IP address on the network? Check by opening command prompt, type ipconfig and hit enter. Look for ethernet adapter ethernet if over cable, otherwise look for wireless lan adapter. The IP given for IPv4 address is what you want to forward to.

Oh also, try running your server from the CLI using this command: java -jar minecraft_server.jar nogui. Should free up some resources.

I was about to mention this too

The ISP isn't blocking the port, is there something else that could have been done wrong with the setup of the port forwarding?

That's what we did, we used the ipconfig ipv4 address that was given and it doesn't work
Are you able to connect to the server within the same network? Have you turned your firewall off/made an exception? Does loopback work?

Yes we can connect while we're both on the same network, I haven't figured out how make an exception in the firewall and I'm honestly not even sure what the loop back does if I'm honest so I can't tell you.

If works on same network, then that's not something you have to worry about, it's probably port forwarding that is messed up.

What could be wrong with the port forwarding then? We've set everything up using portforwarding. com and checked everything and it still can't be found on canyouseeme

I suggest you actually move this discussion to the minecraft forums as they probably have a guide to check through all the issues there. Me trying anything is like throwing darts while blindfolded.

Will do that then, just couldn't find it at first and thought that someone here might be able to help

So let me get this straight? You have a friend (outside your network aka at his house) and you want him to connect to your server on your pc?

If you are hosting the server on a windows machine, it's probably allowing traffic from the same subnet (lan traffic), but not traffic from external sources. You will need to either add an exception to the windows firewall, or just for testing disable the windows firewall. Switch it back on afterwards!
