Hi Guys,

I am trying to get my adsl line installed (self-install). But Telkom is messing me around.

What happened sofar. I had an existing telephone line so I ordered adsl. Got the sms to say that adsl is succesfully installed. But when I got home my line was completely dead. As in no dial tone. I've been escalating this, and phoning all sorts of numbers (10212, 10219, 0800375375) and everybody claims its everybody elses problem to fix.

Does someone by any chance have another contact/number I can phone to get this sorted? Or to escalate this to?

Im in weltevredenpark, jhb if location will be required.

really hoping someone can help. i'd even distribute chocolates ;)

Best option is to go into the nearest Telkom Direct shop and explain the problem.

They can check who the tech was who did the work at the exchange and get into contact with him to go and fix his mess.

Its surprising how much you can sort out with them when a call center gives you the run around.
Beware though that they will first hand you the phone to report it to the call center first since they can't log faults on your be halve.

10212 should be the number for this if there's no dial tone. Don't even mention the ADSL part ... just tell them your phone is out of order.

Tx, looks like a trip. I've been threatning to escalate up the chain and its back with the adsl people now. think i'll make a trip to the telkom shop anyway, just to make sure they are actually doing something to fix my line.

at least Im providing comic relief to my co-workers

Yea, tried that. Their system says though that I got adsl and they were working on it (the line is inactive so they can split it and that process is not complete) therefore its not for them to fix and have to speak to 10219. Of course 10219 says no, its a standard line fault and sends me back to 10212. and so the cycly continues.
