Issues with Sinotech Smart TV. Plz assist.

Hi all.

So I picked up a 55" Sinotech Android TV from Hi-Fi corp yesterday for R6500, which was actually a swap as I had bought a JVC 48" just over a week earlier, which was already giving me stuck pixels, so I decided to swap it for this model.

My first impression, is that it is a rather impressive unit, my only complaints so far, is that despite rooting the TV, I have been unable to get Google Apps working, and means no native Youtube, or Play Store.

I was able to sideload the Kodi App, and I also have a problem with resolution. The Youtube app, only lets me go as high as 720p for streams, and 1080p for live streams, whatever live streams are.

However my main issue, is related to volume. I want to control the volume on my 5.1 system. I don't want to disable the audio on the TV completely, I want to rather have it at zero. I could always still use the TV's built in speakers, if the 5.1 system isn't switched on.

The sound system I have is a fairly cheap Dixon 5.1 system, I also have an Analog > Digital Converter, as the home theater system doesn't have any other audio outputs, apart from an analogue 5.1 output, and stereo aux output.

I currently run a SPDIF coax cable from the output of the TV, into the Analog> digital converter, I set the audio output on the TV from RAW, to PCM, which is what I had it set to on the previous JVC.

This works perfectly fine with my Explora, I have the volume set on zero on the TV, and I can still hear my DStv perfectly on the surround system, and I can adjust the volume with that remote. I am not too worried if true 5.1 sound works correctly for now, just as long as I am getting sound on the home theater system.

The issue is with Kodi, for example I load a youtube video, the volume on the TV controls both the level of sound to the TV's speakers, and to the home theatre system, and therefore I am unable to silence the TV's speakers, and depend on the Home Theatre system solely for audio.

I haven't tested the Home Theatre system yet with the DTV service, will probably get round to doing that later on today when I get home from work.

Let's go step by step.
Check if it has Google play services installed by going into settings , apps, all.

Firstly 5.1 surround sound would never work correctly, unless the DAC you bought is expensive and has more than two outputs. Secondly it's probably related to how the Android portion of the TV is interpreting the SPDIF output, I know that on the cheap JVC android TV I got the Android portion is essentially separate from the TV. Whatever I do on HDMI or any of the other inputs doesn't translate to the OS. Also double check that the playstore isn't installed, as my one has it. I'm not sure how your gui looks though.
You'll maybe have to play with the OS or Kodi.
 
Okay, I am going to reply to everyone one by one.

@Sumen, yes I did. The TV didn't come with Google Apps, so no play store, no play services, no youtube, nothing.
So I downloaded a package which was meant to install them all, and although the apps did install, upon entering my account details The Google Play app gave me a RH-01 error, and wouldn't load the content, nor let me search for anything.

I downloaded, and installed the official Youtube app, this lets me search for videos, it even loads the ad before the video, however it won't load the actual video, and gives me an error something to do with the "Playback ID"

The YouTube app, I got from the Aptoide store app.

and @Lupus the DAC I bought, is similar to this one https://goo.gl/RZoaCo, and as I said true Surround isn't much of an importance to me right now, and I also had a cheapish JVC, however the "TV" was actually an app built into Android, and as I said above, no play store is installed. I will have a play around when I get home, and see if I can do better, I may download, and install quickshortcutmaker, to see if there's any Hidden Android settings, which may assist me to get the Audio problem sorted, as I have noticed that Android TVs, have restricted options on the settings menu, however with Quickshortcutmaker, I can easily open up settings that the provider has removed from the settings menu.

and lastly @Sumen
I had read that topic prior to posting this, and I have mixed feelings, as the TV I have isn't really discussed, and I can live without Play Store, as I have other ways of getting the APKs needed.

Tried it, the app installs, however when it wants to download the 4.4 Gapps to the TV, it appears to start downloading, then gets nowhere. I have spent the last 3 nights, trying. I have tried putting the apps manually in their locations on the TV, then using ADB to apply the permissions, the end result is always the same. Google Apps allows me to enter my password, Google Play then gives me a RH-01 error, and Google Play Services crash frequently. If only there was a way to flash a recovery environment, so then I can flash the Gapps zip file directly, however it seems as this TV is rather unknown, and I have searched to see if it's sold elsewhere under another name, and I can see it's also known as a Skyworth, however still can't find any additional firmware.

Skyworth owns Sinotec.
Maybe just get an android box and plug it in.

can anyone advise regarding the DRM settings on Sinotec 55 inch TV ?
Loaded DSTVnow and Showmax , both show previews and trailers etc. but wont play content due to DRM widevine modular error ... AND1204
Running android KitKat 4.4.4
is there a way to update or get the apps to work ?
Netflix and youtube work perfectly fine

I have 47" Smart 3D Sinotec TV STL-47P593M, I have problem error message appear in middle of my screen "standard settings stop working". my Tv respond with my remote only with home button making circle for second nothing happen. All other buttons on remote or on Tv not responding at all with my TV. please I need your assistance urgently.
