Hi

Having trouble sending emails this morning ... get "temporary local failure" message.

Is everything fine with smtp.afrihost.co.za port 25 ?

Thanks, Ian

Hi, yes SMTP server is working. Please send me a PM with your account number so I can assist further

having exactly the same problem since Saturday, incoming fine, outgoing fails.

port 587 doesnt work either, switching port to 25 makes no difference.

only Afrihost webmail works to send emails

The POP mail box throws out this error message:
Sending of the message failed.
An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: Temporary local problem - please try later.
Please check the message recipient "*****@afrihost.co.za" and try again.

Hmmmm.

The public IP given to my account by Afrihost is being blacklisted by Spamhaus ZEN (zen.spamhaus.org) which tracks email spammers and spam-related activity - no spam/bulk email is sent from this public IP. No other spam service is blocking the public IP.

Only Afrihost outgoing POP email is affected. Other domain based POP email accounts not hosted by Afrihost can receive and send email at the same public IP , and the same device, just fine.

The mail client is also not being blocked by our security software firewall on our side either.

I have tested with other accounts as well, I've experienced the same error message. I have asked the Server admin team to check. I will confirm once we have identified the issue.

Please test now, and let me know if the issue still persist

Last time, they fixed it by rebooting the server.

Still not working.

"Failed to transport message. The remote host closed the connection Failed to store result in item. Item query returned empty result set "

Whatever that means.

Still the same, no change on POP mailbox Exactly the same error message when trying to send email via Afrihost account.

My support ticket ref is [#HVB-110-38768] but I obviously cant reply to it via Afrihost POP email.

The issue is only with "*****@afrihost.co.za" email accounts on POP mailbox.

I've tested all POP mailbox accounts not hosted on Afrihost.co.za on this end - all of those work just fine. So its definitely a Afrihost mail server issue.
