Yeah I also had to sign some stupid indemnity form. God knows why. All they did was give me a CD

They probably just want to protect themselves in case you pirate the software. Since this is not an official distribution method, and they are just helping out (see the sarcasm here )

Wonder if Apple even approves of this.

It's really ridiculous that we have to pay R75. On their signboard in store it says R175 for the cd! They only charged me R75 though.

I managed to get Lion downloaded in 2 days from US AppStore. Have a line running at 3.5mb/s but the download was using about 0.2 to 1mb/s. Hence the 2 days. I had no issue with the install.

MS Office 2011 works. So I am ghappy.

Mine took 14 hrs to download no issues, made a copy of the install file put it on DVD and copied it to our other macbook and hey presto.

Apple, this is a TERRIBLE way to sell an operating system.

I haven't received an email receipt either. Do you think they will accept a screenshot of the App Store struggling to download the damn thing?

I didn't get a receipt either. Go to iStore and sign in on one of their machines to show them. They take a screenshot and print it.

Well, third time was a charm. When I finally got Lion downloaded, it installed without a hitch. A few old Safari and iTunes add-ons complained, but that is to be expected. Otherwise everything works. Now I just need to get my mouse-centric hands accustomed to the Magic trackpad. It works OK for moving files around, but for graphics work you might as well try drawing with a brick. The old Wacom tablet & pen got retrieved from the drawer and Lion has no problems with multiple input devices.

I was considering getting a Trackpad, but I just dunno if it warrants the cash.
