It’s almost impossible not to pay Google

Google controls many of the ways businesses access customers online in the U.S., making it almost impossible to run a company without buying advertising from the internet giant.

As politicians increase scrutiny of large technology companies, Google’s lock on these digital relationships is becoming a potential liability, not just a lucrative advantage praised each quarter by Wall Street analysts.

Really, what is it people want? If you want to use multiple search engines so that Google doesn't have a monopoly on advertising, use multiple search engines. Wait, what? You don't want to use multiple search engines? OK then.

It seems to be the fashion these days to moan about companies that we all insist on using making too much money. There are alternatives.

Paying to be promoted by a company with a major advantage in the market.
That's not SEO, as such. Those "results" are clearly marked as paid for advertising. Personally I won't even click on the paid for link to a website I was searching for on principle.

Ja, look I'll admit that putting ads where search results should be is a bit off, but it's not dishonest or illegal especially since they mark them as such. It makes perfect sense from a business perspective.

Well this goes way beyond search, AdWords run on almost every ad supported website.

As a user you're paying for it as well by them using your data.

How do you avoid Google if it is entrenched on your mobile android device and can't be removed?

Thank you. Won't work for my wife. She will never remember not to click but to swipe.
No it's different per device. On some you click and swipe but on some like mine you click and hold. Guess some you can just click but that usually takes you to home screen.
