MAMPARA OF THE WEEK: MO SHAIK
It’s double-Mo seven
Don’t laugh, but there was a time when Mo Shaik, brother of Jacob Zuma’s special friend, the convicted fraudster Schabir, was considered quite a sharp undercover intelligence operative.
One wonders, in light of events this week, where exactly that intelligence was.
Our Mampara thought he was doing the ruling party a favour when he announced that the National Prosecuting Authority was about to withdraw charges against Zuma. This hasn’t exactly pleased the ANC — which now thinks Shaik may have compromised its efforts to deal with the issue in an open and transparent manner, and to dispel fears that Zuma may have copped a secret deal with prosecutors.
With a spy like this on your side, who needs enemies?
