One of my colleagues' kid has just graduated from varsity with BCom (Hons) in Information Systems. She has received two offers from two different companies.

Offer #1
Company 1 is offering her a 2-year graduate program where the first 12 months she will be trained as a SAP BW developer and the second 12 months she will have an option of either going BPC or BOBJ route. At the end of the 2 year program she will need to be certified first in SAP BW and secondly either BPC or BOBJ (depending on which one she chose). The company will pay for the training and both certifications.

Offer #2
Company 2 is offering a 3-year trainee contract as an IT Auditor. At the end of the 3 years she will need have passed the CISA and CIA exams before the company will consider to employ her permanently.

So guys looking at the two offers, can anyone give advise on which one will be the best in the long run in terms of future career opportunities, money and employability. Is it IT Audit or Business Intelligence?

Both are good but require very different interests and personality types.
Is she creative or does she like filtering through pages and pages of standards and evidence looking for gaps?

I cant comment on the first route. Go for the first route. Lol. What type of personality does she have? Is it an audit firm (2nd option)? If it is take the first option (seriously).

From the way her mother talks about her and the few interactions I had with her, she seems to be more academic and a bit shy. Although her degrees had mostly IT courses with a few commerce courses I personally think she might do better in audits. Her father on the hand is in love with the SAP careers because of the perception of high salary opportunities.

Company #1 is an IT consulting company
Company #2 is one of the big four audit firms (definitely not KPMG)

The big firms all operate the same way. It is about the money, they will do anything and everything to get it. KPMG got caught, the rest did not.

Data science is where the money is.

Thanks everybody for your input and private messages.
She chose the BI route.
