IT, Graphix or Web Development?

That is a broad question, very broad.
The first question is, what are you strengths, and which do you prefer.
IT- very broad. Covers web development as well as the usual, application development, databases, and even network admin.
Graphic Design (I assume this is what you mean by "Graphix")- A lot of arty-farty stuff, using software to design logos, and the like. A hard industry to crack if you have no degree. Pay is rubbish and high stress.
Web Development- See my first point above.
In regards to IT employment. It is as good (or as bad) as you make it, choose carefully.

Okay, what is "IT" anyway?
And show me a graphic designer that can code. Really code. There aren't any or they'd be working as programmers.
And programming, even web development, is so far removed from graphic design, it's not even funny. For one, typically creative types excel, whereas with the other, analytical people excel. I'd almost say that they're mutually exclusive, for people who are very good.

on a serious note.
do you like helping your grandmother understand why she does not need 15 search bars on her browser, and why her computer wont work if the power is out? if yes, go into IT.
do you like working with people who change their mind 200 times, and end up going with the thing you suggested the first time after weeks of back and fourth, having all creativity stripped from you and basically being in a position where you need to make someone else's vision into a website? if yes go into design.
do you like staring at pieces of text for hours on end with nothing you try having any effect just to find that you were missing a semicolon, or a bracket? do you like having hour of your day wasted by meetings? do you like having a designer draw up an impossible design that you need to turn into a working website? if yes go into web dev.

I am a sql developer.
I have worked in corporate where the IT department handled hardware, and a lot of my friends are in hardware, so I hear all the stupid questions asked by users.
I have a also done some design, and have a lot of friends who are designers. so I hear all the horror stories of that side.
and when I was in corporate I worked as a web dev, so I know all about the fights you will have with IE 6 because yes, it is still out there.
from your OP, you are basically going, I want to work wiht computers, but I have no idea what I want to do.
so from what I have seen, guys in hardware (IT) do that for a few years, then think the dev guys have easy jobs and start studying programming, and spend the next 6 to 8 years studying part time to have a dev qualification, but get hired to still do IT jobs.
designers all get fed up with the monotony of the job and leave for the idea of having more freedom to do creative things. this cycle repeats every 3 or 4 years.
developers all end up getting tired of the language they are best at, and teach themselves a new one, or focus more on database improvement and go into being a sql BI.

I'm referring to Graphix especially with an X not being a thing.
These are vast fields and the three terms used don't describe any particular role.
