Synopsis: IT Manager with overall accountability for providing IT Network Services to the Groups business

Description: Main Role:
Have overall accountability for providing IT Network Services to the Groups business

Key responsibilities of this role:

• Manage IT operations and staff with the aim to achieve IT objectives and reduce costs.
• Manage infrastructure design, implementation, configuration, backups and maintenance on hardware and software
• 2 direct reports - manage, assign and monitor work
• Manage Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery planning and testing
• IT Infrastructure project management.
• hardware/software related queries
• Minimise the adverse effect on the business of incidents and problems caused by errors in the infrastructure, and proactively prevent the occurrence of incidents, problems and errors.
• Manage IT Support desk: central point of contact between the user and IT Management to handle incidents and requests, and provide an interface for user and IT Management.
• Management of telephone systems
• Management of access control / security systems
• Maintenance and/or acquisition of all electronic equipment

Requirements: Qualification:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four year university or college with concentration in Information Systems, Information Technology, or Computer Science.

Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years related experience in infrastructure/network environments performing network engineering, planning and implementing LAN's / WAN's.
• Experience and ability in managing multiple servers with emphasis on maintaining existing infrastructure.

Knowledge:

• Good knowledge of networking (including protocols, wireless and wired),
• Knowledge of Routers,
• Knowledge of IT infrastructure, networks, applications and IT concepts

Skills:

• Linux knowledge (including firewalls, DNS server, DHCP server, thin clients and web server management),
• Good working knowledge of Novell,
• Physical computer maintenance knowledge and experience (ability to fix/upgrade/replace any hardware components on desktop as well as server systems)

They pay your current payslip + 5%... this trend of not stating CTC in South Africa is the biggest blunder made by agents.

A contentious issue - providing the salary band would save the agent a lot of time and it would certainly be our first choice but clients often specifically ask us to not to put the salary on the adverts.

As I said, it is quite a tricky situation, but we do have to try and keep both our clients and applicants happy!
