Summary:
I have been trying to get hold of iTalk on 0861 33 22 88/ 085 085 and it takes me to MTN SP. After a consultant says "Thank You for calling MTNSP, how may I assist you" then that's it. I cant hear the consultant nor can they hear me. I dont get a beeping sound or anything to signal that the call has been dropped. Just that I cant hear anything after that. (You can try it on your own). I even tried using my cell but same results.

Is there any other way to get hold of them?

Full Story
It all started in 2006 when I applied for a contract with iTalk. Unfortunately the handset took over 2 weeks to be delivered so I decided to cancel it (still have email proof of cancellation confirmation from iTalk).

Soon after I had cancelled it, the handset arrived! I called iTalk and they advised me to sign the delivery note and state that I have since cancelled the contract and send it back with the same courier - which I did.

A month later I got a Statement from iTalk - though I was never billed (no money taken from my a/c). I called iTalk to inquire and they said the Statement was automated prior to cancellation, however No other Statements will be sent in future. Cool, and I never received anything since then (and was never billed either).

Last week I obtained my Credit Report, and there was iTalk listed as one of my Creditors with the account overdue for 3 years!!!! I quickly called them, but I was sent from pillar to post. The Accounts and Legal Depts kept on passing the buck blaming the other party.

I was also told to wait up until the MTNSP taeover goes live, then I can talk to MTNSP.

This gets me to the Summary above.

Any ideas what to do.

Thanks:(

I agree with you , this is a big F***** up , I sent an email to MTN telling them that its poor service etc , not sure if they will even do anything about my complaints .

Ye I have problems too... talk about being welcomed. I had a feeling becoming part of MTNSP was going to be a problem.

The thing is you cannot get hold of iTalk whatsoever. I even tried to call the outlets but the phone just rings and not being answered. This is ***!!!! iTalk screwed me up for three years already. they gave false information to the Credit Bureaus about me not paying where as that account was closed immediately! I never used any of iTalk's services. Now I am denied credit due to their incompetence!!!!

If it takes you to MTN SP then call 808 then? Else if it says you are not an MTN SP customer then dial 083 1 808

Don't worry. I have also been down the no-service MTN route. I have even taken them to the newspaper. They just don't respond to anything. It seems as if only MTN subscribers can contact MTN. Non-MTN subscribers are placed in a loop. The IVR has been broken for as long as I can remeber. Phone 0831808 just to get told that you have to phone 0831808 all over again. Your best bet would be to buy a pre-paid MTN sim from the shop and try and harass them that way. If that is still possible.

I finally managed to get through using that iTalk number. One of the Team Leaders asked me to call back in 1 week's time cause now they cant pull all my records from iTalk. Not sure what that means cause according to iTalk (last week) the account has been dormant - no activity whatsoever, but they failed to CLOSE it off! Anyway, now I wait.
