When you "kill" the "monsters" in the outside world, sometimes they drop items, which you can pick up.

My question is, do these items infleunce you heath and energy loss in any way ... ?

I suspect they do, but need confirmation ...

Also, does having for arguments sake, 2x Air Staff, double the benefit or not?

An item will only influence your health or energy if it has positive or negative attributes.
For example you might have a sword equipped that has -1 health degeneration but has +5 health stealing when you attack.
But when simply picking up items and having them stored in your inventory will not have any effect on your char.
You also cannot equip multiple weapons, you might have a staff or wand, the want will allow you to have another non-weapon item in your other hand that has energy or health buffs.

Okay, that is fair enough ...

How do I then enlarge my "inventory" i.e. how do I enable the ability to carry more items, as I am having to leave items behind.

How do I equip my character with items from my inventory - I have "default" staff/wands with 0 value, can I safely dispose of these somehow, and free up a slot in my inventory?

What is the difference if any, between putting an item in the inventory, into the "trash" or just dropping it ... ?

You can purchase bags and a belt pouch from merchants, bags can be increased from 5 to 10 slots with a rune of holding.
You can also get equipment packs, small ones can be bought from merchants and larger ones you get as rewards.
To equip an item in inventory you double click or drag and drop it on your character in the inventory screen.
Items dragged into the little wast bin get destroyed, you can get rid of your started items that cannot be sold to a merchant that way.
Items you want to hold onto but do not necessarily always want to keep in inventory you can store in your xunlai chest. There is one in every town and outpost that you can access as well as the items in there being available to any new character you create.

EINA!!! EISH!! had a rune of holding and sold it - <shakes head>

I take it you can then hold a number of bags/packs ...

<SOB> <CRY> <SOB> my character could be wearing Kryton gloves and boots and some nice leggings, and I didn't know how to use them, so sold them ... EISH!!!

Okay, that is something I surmised but was not certain of ...

So far all that I seem to be able to transfer to a xunlai chest is gold ... , what am I missing there ... <sigh>

Many thanks, for the help so far ... :D

Have a look at this link Inventory Wiki Page
As to the Xunlai Chest have you spoken to the Xunlai Agent?
They take 50 gold to open the storage account and another 50 gold on top of that to active the material storage pane.
You can purchase additional storage panes from the ncsoft store, the chest itself can hold a maximum of 1 million in gold and your character can have a maximum of 100 000 gold in their inventory.
It's once you reach this point that it makes sense to start trading or collecting ecto as they normally sell for around 7k in gold and can be used to trade for expensive items like rare mini's or weapons that cost more than 100 000 gold.

Thanks, this helps a bit, probably have to pay another 50 gold to make the material storage pane active ...

Will check the links out in more detail later ...
