The stronger the signal, the less packet loss, the better your pings and the less chance of a possible disconnection, although with 48% you should be more than ok.
Fastcomm have a small window patch antenna for around R150 - with that you'll be over the top but hang on till the end of the month till their connectors come into stock.

You'll see the information you need at the end of that page.
