Seeing as this topic is still open...

To draw a parallel between colonialism and a converstaion I had last week.

I was talking with a scottish guy and he said... (wait it's priceless)... he said... "where would all you all be without penicillan!" Cause it's scottish ya know.

Then he stood up and puffed out his chest. I couldn't argue, this guy was scottish and so was the dude that discovered penicillan. I ended up buying him a drink then punching him in the face - "I'm allergic to penicillan you moron" I screamed, it almost killed me when I was a kid.

Everyone else climbed into me punching and kicking - they do not share my allergic disability. Anyway, afterwards I crawled home, remembering the scotsman's last words...

"Hahah, I was born on the same piece of rock that Alexander Fleming was born, hahaha hahahah take that, I am great, you are nothing."

I wish I was that guy.

who gives the PAC the right to tell anyone (whites) to say sorry to the black people for apartheid, i was only 4 when apartheid ended, but i must go to school tomorrow and tell all the black people that i'm sorry!! LOL they are crazy!!

Why should whites apologise when the black government has reversed apartheid to the whites, we are the ones suffering nowdays, we dont have jobs and don't have any rights! I WILL NOT APOLOGISE!!!

PAC leader can build a bridge and get over it, that would be the day when i apologise!!
 
PAC got 113318 votes in the last National Election of 2004 or 0.73% of the total votes

Actually it is all about votes as well.
Without them you can talk all you want.
 
At some points black folks will have to understand that not all things "white" were evil and not all things done unto "blacks" by "white" folks were wrong. It is also a mistake to hold the young "whites" accountable for the sins of their fathers. If this was to be made the rule it could be turned around on the black youths of the future...

Personally I'm of the opinion that the whole "say sorry" and "pay up" has been done already by the likes of FW de Klerk and Roelf Meyer. The "pay up" part was most definately handled when the "whites" gave control of all state assets to the majority. Those assets are worth billions and billions. Whites are also still the majority tax payers who get very little in return apart from electricity and water and relatively okay roads that get jammed up something hopeless in the mornings and afternoon.

We paid... Now stop looking for excuses all ye non-white folks and look at yourselves. Ask yourselves why your neighbours are ****ing up so spectacularly and try to avoid the same mistakes. By the look of things, you are not!
 
wait.. just another few years and an entire new generation will be of voting age, that werent even around during apartheid - to them 'apartheid' will be this boring rubbish stuff they got told about in school during history lessons - its nothing personal to them - so odds are good the ANC are going to have to face an entire generation of new voters with capitalist motivations (ie: worries about crime/money/investments ) - not any 'sympathy towards a onetime liberation movement' which is what's probably keeping the ANC afloat at the moment.

Ees true - every June 16th - interview the kids in the street - no clue of the significance of June 16 - except that it's a public holiday.

Except - this last June 16 - where we had weeks of "The Great Victory" - and the "Hero Youth of 76" - sickening. And LG - you are not around to witness the latest deluge of propaganda, feelgood stories - and blindness to any reality.

However, he warned that apology which was not accompanied by reparations was not enough to heal the wounds of oppression, adding that it was hypocritical and undermined the future political stability of the country.

politicians that make these kinds of statements do it because they know the masses are sure to support any party that gives ppl the slightest hope of hitting the other sa lotto - reparations.

@LG that may happen in 20 - 25 years (1 election every 5 years equates to 4 or 5 elections time), but the ANC are pushing really hard with propoganda exercises to ensure that nobody forgets the "liberation struggle". And the blatant widening of the "apartheid regime" definition to include colonialism under the same umbrella is not helping a natural recovery of the country (and therefore the voter base) either.
 
well, its all about money after all - forget any other motive for Governments.. so in Zimbabwe, big business is doing wonderfully, and the stock market is booming. Tough about the people, crops, food, corpses, repression, power failures etc etc - the State there (like the State here) is pretty much like a big hungry vulture settled on a fat corpse. Its gonna keep on feeding as long as it can, and it really doesnt matter how much the 'society' suffers.
When the corpse is basically empty - or if a new revolution begins and looks to be about to take over and nationalise anything - big business pushes some buttons, data whizzes elsewhere, and money disappears from the country and the country is left alone to fall apart and starve. Thats the future for Zimbabwe and probably SA as well..
(remember how the ANC were saying they were going to nationalise industries?.. They only got handed power and deals got struck by SA big business, (Lusaka bos beraads) once they shut up about nationalising industries..
As long as people still have this idea that a State 'cares' - then they dont see the fairly vicious big picture.. its all just money and business as usual.
(As I pointed out in another thread re crime - people are dying here in daily numbers that show that Apartheid and Colonialism were a much safer system to live under than the ANC's idea of 'democracy'.

As far as the big propaganda push to make Apartheid (and thus the ANC's role in 'defeating' it) seem sexy to the voters - well, law of diminishing returns - I think the new generation of folks quite rightly are not going to worry too much about the past, just the present and making money - which means the ANC will follow the standard model of using the rural backward peasants for votes, and the cities will become the place where the normal urbanised voters live, who'll vote for whatever Opposition seems good..

Except that's not happening: all you have to do is read the comments of some on this forum - gub/anc can do no wrong - and the continual migration to the cities means in the same time frame the 'rural' population gets smaller - hence even more propaganda targeted at any it can reach - those in the cities -.
 
What LG is saying will happen and we all know that unless South Africa turns into dictatorship like Zimbabwe if zuma gets into power.
