So for several months now, the wife's iPhone 5 keyboard has been acting up. It simply disappears mid-text, or never comes up at all, in any of the apps where you need to type. As you can imagine, for someone who uses the phone primarily for texting and emailing, it is frustrating to say the least. Particularly having regrettably left Blackberry's physical keyboard...

So Apple's stocks were not doing too well in the house. The problem was intermittent. And appeared to follow no pattern. Googling led to many similar issues with other iPhone 5 users - and at most, the common solution appeared to be a hard-reset. This would do the trick for a few minutes, before the problem would return. Or not.

So this evening - had to get on to Apple forum again. As colourful language was being directed at all Job's creations. A misdirect after logging in, took me to the iPad forum - where the same problem was occurring... Only they had a solution.

So one giant facepalm later [you all know where this is going, right] - and our issue was identified as well.

In retrospect - the problem only presented itself when I was around. And mostly in the evenings. And mostly in the part of the house, closest to the upstairs study. Where my laptop bag has an Apple bluetooth keyboard in it. And since my wife keeps her BT ON 24/7, to use in the car - it would pickup the keyboard (I cannot recall ever synching it - but presumably must have) and ditch the on-device keyboard...

Always the little things. Glaringly obvious in retrospect. But a.) never knew they were synched and b.) cannot believe the range on that keyboard...

Sanity returned.

hahaha... Great story. Happen to the best of us :p

And it's only ever after you've made a complete tit of yourself that you find the problem.
