My account was deactivated a week and a half ago due to excessive usage. I have an iburst account through lantic.

I have phoned lantic and they tell me my account is active on their side and it shows i have only used 5GB on my 3GB softcap, but is deactivated on iburst side. Iburst tells me i am deactivated cause i have used 80GB which i dont believe.

Today is the 1st and my account is still off. i called iburst who tells me they cant reactivate it because my isp is lantic, i call lantic and they tell me that it is active on their side i must contact iburst.

After a much heated discussion and 35mins of airtime on my cell i finaly get lantic to contact iburst to request it be switched on. lantic calls me back to say their phone lines are faulty and iburst cant hear them. they tell me to contact my local lantic branch on the 5th of january when they open.

Which leaves me with no internet for 5 days.

So this is the conclussion i have come too :

iburst tells me they arent allowed to touch my account because it is through lantic, but yet they can deactivated me, but cant reactivate me.

which sounds really contradictive and stupid to me.

i wonder if there is a breach of contract here somewhere, i would love to have a loop hole here so i can tell them to go shove their contract up their @ss.

So basicly i sit for 5 days with no internet yet i am billed for it :(

do i have any rights here ? what are my options ? and do i have grounds to cancel the contract ?

I would say you have grounds to cancel the contract. They are bound by contract to give you internet access which they are failing to do, which is in contravention of the said contract.

I'm no lawyer or anything, but I would imagine that they are in breach of contract. Perhaps speak to a lawyer about this or someone on mybb that knows the law.

did i mention they deactivated my account without notification. i had to hunt around for 2 days calling between lantic and iburst to find out i was deactivated....

is there anyone here that knows bit about the law that can shed some light on my rights ?

Basically similar to the situation of price decreases in monthly rates but iBust want the consumer to check the rates like a hawk so they can call and get the amounts adjusted because they can't inform people and robbed the old and unknowing.

Could have told you that ages ago.... I advise everyone to avoid IBURST like they would avoid the plague! They ripped me for over R6000 and I am stillw aiting for them to resolve... I AM A PROUD IBURST HATER FOR LIFE!

Agree

Could not agree with you more on that issue.
After last year's fiasco I make sure to keep an eye on their pricing about 2 times a month, because I know they sure as hell are not going to tell me if the prices drop.
