Yep. I disconnected my Iburst yesterday and plugged in the Sentech 128K connection. You can...

-Open web pages more quickly than Ibust
-Emails sending and receving is no problem as compared with Ibust
-Connecting is amazing, it literally takes 2 seconds to connect unlike the connection with Ibust
-Yep, downloading with 128k connection may not be that great as 1mb with Ibust, but if you averaged out your apeed over the last month, Sentech 128k would have surely beat Ibust..... :D

Just can do business/work with an unreliable service. We will probably look at it again 6 months later, if anything has improved.

Only because you having problems with your Iburst. Rather find ways to sort out your problems than compare apples with oranges. You experience is not isolated, but it is also not typical.

My experience is:
Fast browsing.
No problem sending/recieving Email.
Connection is instant (<1sec).
Multithreaed downloads at +-1Mbs at all times.
My current connection has been up for over 2 days now, and it only went down because of an electricity cut.

If I were in your position I would be fighting to get the most out of my Iburst, rather than falling back on a slow, shaped, overpriced service like Sentech 128.

I mean, if I wasn't getting as good as others on this board it would eat me up inside. I just don't understand how you can settle for second (or is third/fourth) best.

Depending which tower I connect to, I find my experience rather okay.

Much better than the 512k Sentech ripoff I had. I can actually VPN to my servers in the US without it behaving like a 56k modem (ala Sentech style)

I hope they get their **** sorted out soon

Hey togo,

just cause you live in a dodogy area where they steal the towers, dont go and make paint us all with your brush.

My iburst by far out performs my uncapped ADSL at work, and the 512 sentech at my friends house.

I have instant connections, quick browsing, and reliable quick speeds

Torgo. Sorry to hear your iburst is not what it can be. I had an interesting problem last night which i am not sure if it relates to the problems some people having. I was surfing downloading an everything working fine, then suddenly was having very slow surfing speeds. The wierd thing was that my voip still worked fine. My pings were a little up and i had about 20% packet loss, which i usually never see. Well i first disconnected and reconnected - no help. Then did a pc reboot and reconnect - no help. I was just about to give up and go to bed grumpy when i recycled the modems power. Bingo connected and was flying again. The way i understand it was that something in the modem got bugered and needed to be reset. I had 5 lights on the modem at all times ie it gave no indication that their was a problem. Could it be that some people have got dodgy hardware???

mmmm, the modem is running on some kind of linux bios kernal thingy from what I've heard... strange to see it act that way.

Then again, I never trusted linux to begin with..

Chris

OK Tried both... My sentech is crawling compared to my iburst...

/dunno.... Something strange....

I need more testing time... will report back in 2 days...

Confused but downloading fast.
