3G uses the same price plans as 2G so the data rates, SMS , etc. are all charged according to the same rules. As a subscriber your would not always be able to select either 2G or 3G so the pricing should be transparent. Only video calls are a new component.

But I agree it should be explicitly referenced from the 3G web area.

Well thats it

Thats the last straw... My younger brother and have both been with iTalk for 6 years now, and decided to renew our contracts with them and take the nokia 6680... but failing to notice the extra little charges... it's all good, we where told to wait 2 weeks for stock and so on, thats fine, im happy with that...

Today my brother got his phone and im still waiting for mine, was told sorry I have to wait 2 weeks... we made one call, one order to renew both at the same time... Bollocks

VODACOM here we come...

im happy with my MTN. aswell as my multichoice.(they are owned by the same people right??)
ps. stay away from vodacom.... telkom owns most of there shares(i think/or is it vodafone now)
anyways those new vodafone phones have such disgusting menus that it makes me feel sick... also that stupid little cat/tiger/squirrel type of thingy that dances on the TV.... sies.

Well that's your first problem, recent reports suggest that iTalk suck.

Also stop trolling, if you don't like MTN's prices and/or service just switch to Vodacom. There's no reason to voice it repeatedly, this just suggests you have some ulterior motive.

so...

... Then everybody in this forum has an "ulterior motive" then, right, because all i see is a whole lot of bitching come from this site, and then I decide to share my bad experencie with this forum, which is my consumers right to do, and you want to come along with that rubbish... I dont think so...

Right! Except for the small detail that some of us signed 2 year contracts based on MTN's claim to be "cheapest in the world". After that proved to be far from the truth, they spent the last few months promising new lower price packages "real-soon-now"

One post voicing your disapproval and intent to move to Vodacom would have been sufficient. Continously posting about it in the same thread just makes you look like a whiner... use it, don't use it, I don't really care.

It seems your anger is more a result of iTalk's incompetence rather than a direct result of MTN. You could just move to another MTN service provider, I've had zero problems with MTN SP.

If you bought into your contract based purely on information from advertising without doing any extra research well then I'm sorry to say you got what you deserve.

/me nods

it is about the most unhelpful site I have ever seen. Vodacom's site is very helpful but also very busy. Could do with toning (sp?) it down.

Oh right. I should just know that their advertising is a pack of lies.

My research was actually based on the original MTN pricing which allowed multiple bundles, and yes it was the cheapest. Unfortunately they reneged on this before launch date - and forgot to correct the advertising.

Try MTN SP

I have been happy with them for over two years. One of the issues I have is that I travel alot... I am based in East London so no 3G yet, but EDGE is virtually all over... EDGE coverage is FARRRR broader than 3G... what have Vodacom done to bridge 3G and GPRS? What coverage do they have in terms of broadband? And as someone rightly pointed out... VODACOM=TELKOM...
So... yes, I would like to see prices drop across the board and I'm happy that data has already, but I'll stick with MTN SP for now thanks

I've been with MTN / MTel for 5 years, I've had my issues with them but I wouldn't change. The fine print in their packages is better. There's no "Buy this phone for 0.99c a month!!(for the first 3 months and pay R500 a month for the next 18)" Dishonest contracts, like Vodacom and Cell C do.

MTN "phone" options aren't always as lucrative a Vodacom, but the have a more complete set of package offerings. I'm on a myChoice 150 R150 credit to spend on anything during the month. I don't end up with 2 hours unused after hours minutes
and no nasty peak time call surprises.

Oh and for 3G/data, they're cheaper. R100Mb/R100, R500/1Gb R1/Mb thereafter. it's an add on to any package, and is irrelevant whether it's 2/2.5/3G.

Yep, there's always a catch somewhere, just think of the fun we're having with Telkom at the moment ;)

Ok I wasn't aware of that fact, I retract the statement in my previous post.
