Translation: They are desparate for customers ... for good reason.

IBurst is only R50 more expensive than Mywi 128 (for 24 m contract)

And it is 1024 kb/s vs 128 kb/s ! 8 times better !!!

The advertising can only woo those uninformed Who doesnt want to fly :)

Sentech must really get a iburst package & test it and see what WBS are doing to them. before too late :D

"And it is 1024 kb/s" - You're kidding only yourself.
With the backbone feed WBS currently have.... dream on!

.....and when you reach your cap it will be you that can't fly :)
I certainly won't support any provider with these laughable cap's

iBurst 's proposed cap is 64 kbps it is not totally capped.

At least With iBurst one could fly for 3Gb (64k after that),with Mywi 128 one will never fly ,(especially Int cap at "snail speed" 5kb)

The right choice between the two is obvious,NO amount advertising can change that.

only a comparable package to iBurst can relieve Sentech from this dilemma ,the longer they take to realize this ,the more (potential) customers they lose.

Sentech's management need to show their wisdom.

Whenever I hear Sentech's "It’s time to fly" ad, I literally cringe. I feel so sorry for those poor souls who signup and don't know about myadsl or the lies and manipulations Sentech are famous for.

It's time to see your money and patience fly away ! :D

Seriously tho, for your solitaire and email user, MyWireless does actually work.

The basic 128 package is more or less equivalent to a 56k modem - when I quit the service in Nov last year, the bandwidth management had come into play and the speed averaged out then to 4.7kbps - not sure if it's the same now.

Sure, it's totally crappy, but it did load webpages very fast due to "bursting" bandwidth management and emails without large attachments were fast too.

For an experienced web person - such as someone who works in IT for a living - it just doesn't work.

For general email and surfing it's an alternative to the high cost of dialup for SOHO

Trouble is, Sentech shot themselves in the foot with MyWireless to such a degree that it's still got a bad name - not something that's easy to "wash off"

If iBurst can get past thier teething problems before launch, I can't see Sentech being able to compete - no way.
Even with the 3gig cap, if iBurst works as promised and if WBS can keep tabs on users and required bandwidth / tower distribution, they'll leave Sentechs MyWireless seriously wanting.

Like bb_matt says - there is definitely a market for the speedlessness of say MyWi(128K divide by max contention == bandwidth managed maximum speed), however Sentech are killing themselves out of even that market by not drastically lowering their price substantially, if they dropped to around R270..R320 they would capture the "email & solitaire" market overnight - well probably over a 2 month period anyways. And for that price they would get very few people (previously on dialup) complaining that it was not speedy - after all they would gain 27*7 connectivity - perfect for the home/SOHO market.

Telkom (rumour)is launching DSL 192 next week or so.

Piece of pie is also taken up (by Telkom).Mywi can not compete with ADSL 192 due to much higher startup cost -ADSL modem is much cheaper than Sentech's 3g modem.

Sentech will be lucky ,even maintaining existing clientele

hmmm interesting... hopefully the 'rumour' is true although Telkom are the main cause.. my friend in England just bought a 1.5MB line for 25 pounds a month... In Japan some people have 60MB lines in their home and here we celebrate 512Kb calling it broadband.

This country and the business mentality in this country is what makes this country pathetic. to quote the McDonalds brothers "Take care of your customers and the business will come"
