If it is already at the top highlight the icon - right click and choose Get info (or command+i) and head down to languages (under preview). Make sure it's using english.

It should automatically save the file to your desktop.
Try it again? The default is supposed to be the desktop.
Or try this one instead - Command-Shift-4 then hit the space bar - you'll get a little camera icon - move it to the window you want to take a pic of and click.
